Barcelona eye Roma defender Evan Ndicka
Barcelona have reportedly opened initial talks to explore a summer move for AS Roma centre-back Evan Ndicka as they look to reinforce their defence ahead of next season.
The club is specifically targeting a left-footed central defender following Íñigo Martínez’s departure, and Ndicka is emerging as a strong candidate.
The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international ticks several boxes for Barça’s recruitment team, combining height, physical power, and calm ball distribution from the back. He has been a regular starter for Roma this season, featuring in 31 official matches, scoring 3 goals and picking up 6 yellow cards, underlining both his importance and aggressive style of play.
For now, Roma sources insist there has been no formal contact between the clubs, with Barcelona believed to have sounded out the player’s camp instead to understand his contract situation and potential availability.
Any move remains at an early, exploratory phase, with no concrete negotiations underway and no firm commitment from Barcelona yet.
Financial Fair Play continues to be a major factor, meaning a deal would depend heavily on Barcelona’s ability to comply with the 1:1 spending rule before the summer window. Ndicka already has history at Camp Nou, having started for Eintracht Frankfurt in their famous 3–2 win over Barça in the 2022 Europa League before receiving a late red card.
