Barcelona eye Omar Marmoush as alternative to Álvarez
FC Barcelona are reportedly considering Omar Marmoush as a potential signing in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Catalan club remain interested in Argentinian striker Julian Álvarez, but his high transfer fee has complicated negotiations. Atlético Madrid are reportedly asking for over €80 million, prompting Barcelona to explore alternative options.
Marmoush, the 25-year-old Egyptian international currently at Manchester City, has emerged as a credible Plan B. Valued at around €50 million, he offers a more affordable option for the Spanish side.
It is not yet clear whether Pep Guardiola will allow Marmoush to leave. The striker joined Manchester City in the winter of 2025 and is currently completing his first full season at the club, where he has been gradually integrating into the squad.
Barcelona’s interest highlights their strategy of securing versatile and cost-effective attacking options.
Marmoush’s ability to play across the front line makes him an attractive alternative if the Álvarez deal proves unattainable.
As the summer window approaches, Barcelona will have to weigh financial considerations against squad needs, with Marmoush potentially becoming a key target depending on the outcome of their pursuit of Álvarez.
