Barcelona end move for Ghanaian winger Abdul Aziz Issah
Barcelona have called off plans to sign Ghanaian winger Abdul Aziz Issah, according to Diario Sport.
The 20-year-old spent the last two seasons on loan at reserve side Barca Atletic and impressed under manager Juliano Belletti, scoring four goals and locking down a regular starting role.
FC Barcelona confirmed the signing of Abdul Aziz Issah on a season-long loan from Dreams FC on September 2, 2024. The young Ghanaian winger joined Barca Atletic, the reserve side of the Spanish giants, in a deal that runs until June 30, 2025.
The transfer represented Issah’s first move into European football after impressing with strong performances in the Ghana Premier League and the CAF Confederation Cup. Soon after arriving in Spain, he trained with Barcelona’s senior team ahead of their La Liga clash against Girona FC on September 14, 2024. Fellow Ghanaian player David Oduro was also involved in the sessions.
Issah later made his official debut for Barca Atletic on November 6, 2024. He came off the bench and played 16 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad B in the Primera Federacion.
The Catalan club have decided not to extend his loan or trigger the permanent buyout option from Dreams FC. His departure is part of a broader squad overhaul targeting Barcelona’s youth reserve setup.
Despite this setback, Issah has already attracted strong interest from several prominent clubs across Europe’s major leagues. The Ghana international’s sudden exit cuts short what looked like a promising development path at one of the world’s biggest clubs.
