Lamine Yamal will once again observe Ramadan this season, with FC Barcelona putting a specially designed nutritional programme in place to ensure fasting does not affect his physical performance.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Barcelona’s medical and performance staff have developed a tailored diet plan aimed at minimising the physical impact of fasting during the holy month.
The programme focuses on maintaining Yamal’s energy levels, recovery, and overall fitness while allowing him to fulfil his religious commitments.
This marks Yamal’s second Ramadan with the Barcelona first team, and his first under head coach Hansi Flick.
The club is already familiar with managing such situations, having previously implemented similar nutritional systems for other Muslim players, making the process a routine part of their sports science operations.
The plan reportedly prioritises balanced evening meals that provide sufficient nutrients without overloading the body, alongside carefully monitored hydration to support training and match demands.
Barcelona’s staff are expected to closely track Yamal’s physical condition throughout the month to ensure optimal performance levels are maintained.
Yamal is scheduled to play his first match during Ramadan next Sunday when Barcelona host Levante at Camp Nou, with the club confident that the customised nutrition programme will allow the young star to continue performing at a high level despite the challenges of fasting.
