Barcelona defender Eric Garcia names Mohamed Salah as toughest opponent
Barcelona centre back Eric Garcia has offered candid insights into his career during a rapid-fire interview with Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, touching on the most difficult opponent he has faced.
Without hesitation, Garcia identified Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah as the toughest player he has ever come up against.
The Spanish defender explained that the Egyptian star presented the biggest challenge of his career, particularly during their encounters in the Premier League when Garcia was part of the Manchester City squad.
Speaking about his personal ambitions, Garcia admitted that lifting the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA World Cup remains an unfulfilled dream. He described both trophies as the ultimate achievements in football and the highest level of success any player can aspire to reach.
When asked to name the best centre back currently playing in Europe, Garcia pointed to his Barcelona teammate Pau Cubarsi. At the same time, he revealed that the defender he closely studies and draws inspiration from is Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk.
Garcia also shared his thoughts on potential dream signings for Barcelona. In a response that delighted fans, he selected the iconic duo Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, underlining his admiration for the club’s former stars.
Away from the pitch, the defender spoke about his interests beyond football. He enjoys playing on the PlayStation and watching basketball in his spare time.
