Barcelona could cash in on Jules Kounde despite new deal

Jules Kounde’s future at Barcelona has been thrown into doubt, with the club open to listening to offers for the French defender this summer despite his recently extended contract until 2030.

Journalist Matteo Moretto reported on Radio MARCA that Kounde is no longer viewed as completely untouchable within the squad structure.

Barcelona would carefully assess any serious proposal before deciding whether to sell, as part of a broader strategy that could also see other players moved on if attractive bids arrive.

The situation is striking given how heavily Hansi Flick has relied on Kounde this season, with the 27-year-old making 40 appearances in all competitions and contributing three goals and four assists before his current hamstring injury.

Kounde has generally been a reliable performer, even if there have been occasional lapses, and his versatility across the back line has been vital. With João Cancelo only on loan, Eric García more natural at centre-back, and youngster Xavi Espart still gaining experience, any decision to part with Kounde would leave Barcelona needing significant reinforcement at right-back and in defence overall.
