LaLiga has confirmed that Barcelona will host Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the league season on Saturday, 25 October.
The match will be played at Spotify Camp Nou during the 10th round of the competition, with kick-off scheduled for 21:00 local time.
LaLiga announced the date and time on Tuesday through its official account on X, ending speculation over when one of the most anticipated fixtures in the Spanish football calendar would take place.
The league shared the announcement alongside the message:
“SAVE THE DATE FOR #ELCLASICO The stage is set.🗓️October 25th⌚️9 PM🏟️Spotify Camp Nou #LALIGAEASPORTS”
The fixture will be the first El Clasico for Jose Mourinho since beginning his second spell in charge of Real Madrid. It will also provide another meeting between Real Madrid and a Barcelona side led by Hansi Flick.
Barcelona and Real Madrid currently share the top spot in LaLiga after the opening three rounds. Both clubs have collected nine points, although Barcelona are ahead on goal difference.
The two sides therefore enter the season’s first league meeting level on points, with the result at Spotify Camp Nou potentially having an early impact on the leadership of the table. The match is scheduled for the 10th round, meaning both teams will have played nine league fixtures before they meet.
For Mourinho, the occasion will mark his return to one of Spanish football’s defining contests during his second spell with Real Madrid. The Portuguese manager’s first El Clasico of this tenure will come away from the Santiago Bernabeu, with Barcelona hosting the encounter at Spotify Camp Nou.
Flick, meanwhile, has recorded notable figures against Real Madrid during his first two seasons at Barcelona’s home stadium. The upcoming fixture will add another chapter to that record when the teams meet in October.
LaLiga’s announcement gives supporters a confirmed date for the latest edition of a rivalry that remains central to the Spanish domestic season. Barcelona and Real Madrid are already tied at the top of the standings after three matches, and their meeting will be one of the headline fixtures of the campaign’s 10th round.
The announcement was also accompanied by an invitation for readers to discuss the subject and other football news in the Kooora forums. A related report also referred to comments from Flick in which he said: “We made a top-level signing” and ruled out a particular possibility in the transfer market.
