Barcelona add Robert Lewandowski to club legends list after four-season spell

Barcelona have added former striker Robert Lewandowski to their official list of club legends, recognising the Poland international’s contribution during his four seasons at the Spanish club.

The announcement was made on Barcelona’s official website, where Lewandowski’s name now appears alongside the players who have made a significant mark on the club’s history.

Lewandowski left Barcelona at the end of the previous season and joined Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire on a free transfer. His departure brought an end to a four-season spell at the club, which began when he moved from Bayern Munich in 2022.

During his time with Barcelona, Lewandowski made 193 appearances and scored 120 goals. Those figures place him 14th in the club’s all-time goalscoring list.

Barcelona also highlighted his record of winning major honours during his stay. The striker helped the club win La Liga three times, the Copa del Rey once and the Spanish Super Cup on three occasions.

In its profile of the former player, Barcelona wrote: “Robert Lewandowski is one of the best strikers of all time in world football. He possesses an exceptional instinct in front of goal and a range of skills that make scoring goals seem simple for him. But his contribution is not limited to work inside the penalty area, as he is also known for helping to build attacks and create chances for his team-mates”.

The description reflects the role Lewandowski played for Barcelona beyond his goalscoring. The club’s assessment referred both to his finishing ability and to his involvement in the build-up to attacks, as well as his work in creating opportunities for fellow players.

Lewandowski joined Barcelona in 2022 after leaving Bayern Munich and spent four seasons wearing the Spanish club’s shirt. Across that period, he reached 120 goals in 193 matches and helped Barcelona collect seven domestic trophies: three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.

His inclusion in the legends section follows his departure for Chicago Fire, where he moved as a free agent at the end of the previous season. Barcelona’s official list now records him among the notable players to have represented the club.

The Polish striker’s position as the 14th-highest scorer in Barcelona’s history is another part of the legacy recognised by the club. His addition means that his four-season spell, his goalscoring record and the honours won during his time at Camp Nou are now reflected in Barcelona’s official legends list.
