Bara Sapoko Ndiaye to miss Dortmund and Atletico Madrid games after appendicitis surgery

Bayern Munich midfielder Bara Sapoko Ndiaye is expected to remain sidelined until mid-November after undergoing surgery for appendicitis, ruling him out of several important fixtures for the German club.

The young Senegalese midfielder was unavailable for Bayern’s 6-1 victory over FC Magdeburg in the second round of the German Cup on Wednesday, with reports in the German press revealing that he had undergone an appendectomy.

His expected recovery period means he could miss Bayern’s meeting with Borussia Dortmund, known as Der Klassiker, as well as their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid.

The absence represents another setback for Bayern as the club deals with a growing list of fitness concerns. Ndiaye is expected to need just under three weeks to recover from the operation, with a return anticipated around the middle of November.

Surgery explains Ndiaye’s absence

Ndiaye’s absence from Wednesday’s cup tie against Magdeburg had raised questions, but reports from Germany have since revealed that the midfielder required surgery for appendicitis.

The operation prevented him from featuring in the match at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern secured a convincing 6-1 win to progress to the next round of the German Cup.

Although the Bavarian side advanced comfortably, the latest development means they will have to manage without the Senegalese youngster during his recovery.

The expected three-week absence could prove significant given the matches scheduled during that period, particularly Bayern’s domestic meeting with Dortmund and their European assignment against Atletico Madrid.

Ndiaye’s return will depend on his recovery following the operation, with mid-November currently the expected timeframe.

Bayern face further fitness concerns

The midfielder’s situation adds to Bayern’s injury problems, with the club reportedly recording their sixth injury case in November.

Manager Vincent Kompany has also been affected by a health issue after being diagnosed with meningeal irritation, which kept him away from his duties for a few days.

The series of setbacks has created additional challenges for the German club as they prepare for a demanding period across domestic and European competitions.

Ndiaye’s absence will leave Bayern without another midfield option while he recovers, although the team demonstrated their attacking strength against Magdeburg by scoring six goals in the German Cup tie.

Return expected in mid-November

Bayern are hopeful that Ndiaye will be available again by the middle of November, following the recovery period associated with his appendectomy.

The Senegalese midfielder is therefore expected to miss the match against Dortmund and the Champions League encounter with Atletico Madrid.

Both fixtures form part of Bayern’s upcoming schedule, making the timing of the injury an unfortunate setback for the young player.

For now, Ndiaye’s focus will be on recovering from surgery before returning to training and working towards a return to competitive action.

Bayern will continue without him during that period, with his expected comeback in mid-November offering a potential boost as the club seeks to navigate its injury concerns.
