Bank El Ahly sign Nigeria midfielder Boluwatife Adesanya from Grassrunners FC

Bank El Ahly have signed Nigeria attacking midfielder Boluwatife Adesanya from Grassrunners FC, with the 19-year-old joining the Egyptian Premier League club on a contract running until 30 June 2029.

Adesanya completed the move on 12 August 2026, bringing an end to his time with Grassrunners FC. The left-footed midfielder made the switch after returning from a spell with Polissya U19, where he spent part of the 2025-26 season on loan.

The teenager joined Polissya U19 from Grassrunners FC on 16 March 2026 and returned to his parent club when that loan ended on 30 June. He subsequently moved on to Bank El Ahly at the start of the 2026-27 campaign.

Adesanya’s most recent recorded involvement came in the U19 Premier Liga, where he made six appearances, scoring once and providing one assist. He played 163 minutes in the competition, with his goal coming at an average of one every 163 minutes.

The move takes Adesanya into Egyptian football with Bank El Ahly, whose first team competes in the country’s Premier League. He joins the club at the age of 19 and is listed primarily as an attacking midfielder.

Adesanya was born on 18 July 2007 and is Nigerian. At 1.70m, he offers Bank El Ahly an attacking midfield option with experience of youth-level competition in Europe and a recent loan spell at Polissya U19.

His route to Egypt has included two changes of club during 2026. He left Grassrunners FC for Polissya U19 in March before returning to Grassrunners at the end of the loan in June, then completed his move to Bank El Ahly in August.

The four-year agreement keeps Adesanya at Bank El Ahly through the end of June 2029. He is now part of the club’s squad for the new season, having formally joined from Grassrunners FC.
