Bandırmaspor defender Tolga Kalender dies aged 25

Bandırmaspor have announced the death of their 25-year-old defender Tolga Kalender.

The Turkish club said it had received the news with “great sadness and sorrow” just hours earlier. Kalender played as a centre-back and spent his career in that position.

He made 132 appearances during his career, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

Trabzonspor, the Turkish club that includes Mohamed Salah in its squad, also paid tribute to Kalender and offered its condolences to Bandırmaspor and the player’s family.
