Bambase Conte a doubt for Hoffenheim’s clash against Bayer Leverkusen
TSG Hoffenheim are facing uncertainty over the availability of Bambase Conte ahead of Sunday’s Bundesliga home fixture against Bayer Leverkusen after the attacker was forced off with a fitness concern during Thursday’s Europa League victory over Olympique Lyon.
The 23-year-old was substituted in the 65th minute of Hoffenheim’s 3-0 win after experiencing discomfort. Head coach Christian Ilzer subsequently confirmed that the decision was not simply related to managing the player’s workload.
“We had to take Bambasé Conté off a little earlier against Lyon, so we will have to wait and see. The same applies to the rest of the squad,” Ilzer said ahead of the Leverkusen encounter.
The coach did not provide further details about the nature or severity of Conté’s problem, leaving his availability for Sunday uncertain.
Conté has been an important attacking option for Hoffenheim this season, contributing to the team’s offensive play and scoring in recent Bundesliga action. His potential absence would be a concern for Ilzer as the team prepares to face a Leverkusen side that has enjoyed a strong start to its European campaign.
Hoffenheim will assess the winger’s condition before making a final decision on his involvement. With the match taking place less than three days after the European fixture, the coaching staff must also consider the demands of a congested schedule.
Conté’s fitness will therefore be one of the key issues for Hoffenheim ahead of Sunday’s encounter, with further clarity expected as preparations continue.
The Bundesliga match at the PreZero Arena is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, with kick-off at 15:30 local time.
