Bamba Dieng: Senegal striker linked with surprise Hull City move

Senegal forward Bamba Dieng, currently without a club after leaving FC Lorient this summer, has been linked with a move to Premier League side Hull City. The 26-year-old free agent is understood to be on the English club’s radar as they assess attacking options ahead of the new season.

Dieng became available on 1 July following the expiry of his spell at Lorient, where his market value was most recently listed at around €15m. Hull’s interest is thought to centre on the opportunity to add a centre-forward with top-flight and European experience without paying a transfer fee.

The Pikine-born striker has made his name in France, scoring 28 goals and providing eight assists in 111 Ligue 1 appearances. He first arrived in Europe with Marseille, later moving to Lorient in January 2023 for a reported €7m fee before a loan stint at Angers in the 2024–25 campaign, where he was part of a side that went on to win the French second tier with Lorient in 2024–25.

On the international stage, Dieng was part of Senegal’s squad that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in 2022 and featured at the 2026 World Cup, making a brief appearance in the tournament. His combination of domestic top-flight experience and major tournament exposure is believed to appeal to Hull’s recruitment team.

No formal bid or agreement has been reported, and discussions are at an exploratory stage, with Dieng currently free to negotiate with interested clubs following his departure from Lorient.
