ERIC DI MECO SLAMS MARIO BALOTELLI: “FOR ME, HE’S A FRAUD”
Italian striker Mario Balotelli continues to make headlines — and not for the best reasons. From his omission from the national team, to off-field controversies and underwhelming performances at club level, the Liverpool forward is once again facing fierce criticism.
This time, the harsh words came from Eric Di Meco, a former defender for Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco, now a pundit for RMC. Di Meco didn’t mince words when assessing Balotelli’s career:
“For me, Balotelli is a fraud. I just want someone who likes him to name five good matches he’s played in the last year across all the clubs he’s been at.”
Di Meco pointed out the contrast between consistent performers like Cristiano Ronaldo and players who rely on flashes of brilliance:
“A great player like Cristiano Ronaldo may have five poor games in a year. Balotelli, on the other hand, built his career on a few spectacular goals and a controversial personality. That kind of hype can carry you for a while, but the backlash is inevitable. For me, he’s inexcusable.”
While some might question Di Meco’s own playing record — 21 goals in 366 matches as a defender — his criticism of Balotelli’s inconsistency and media-driven image resonates with many frustrated fans and analysts. Whether Super Mario can silence his critics remains to be seen.
