Michel Platini has expressed his belief that Franck Ribery is a serious candidate for the 2013 Ballon d’Or. The UEFA president highlighted Ribery’s achievements, including winning the treble (Champions League, Cup, and Championship) with Bayern Munich last season. Platini acknowledged that while Ribery was named the best UEFA player in August, the Ballon d’Or vote might differ. He cited the example of Andrés Iniesta winning the UEFA Best Player award two years ago, but Lionel Messi ultimately claiming the Ballon d’Or. The winner of the 2013 Ballon d’Or will be announced in January.
