It is official – Baky Koné is back in French football. The Ivorian striker has joined Paris FC on a short-term deal running until the end of the season.
The 35-year-old, once a prolific forward with OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille, has been without a club since leaving Emirati side Ajman Club last summer. His return comes as Paris FC, bottom of Ligue 2, look to bolster their attack in a bid to avoid relegation.
Koné, who left France in 2010 for spells in Qatar and Dubai, told *Le Parisien* he still has a point to prove.
> “I want to show those who no longer believe in me that I am still here,” he said.
Known for his pace and eye for goal during his peak years in Ligue 1, Koné brings with him valuable experience. Between 2005 and 2009, he was one of Marseille’s key attacking options, scoring important goals in domestic and European competitions. Prior to that, he enjoyed a successful spell at Nice, where his performances earned him his move to the Vélodrome.
For Paris FC, currently languishing at the foot of Ligue 2, his arrival offers hope of a turnaround. The club have struggled to score goals this season, and the veteran forward’s presence could provide much-needed leadership and attacking flair.
While Koné is no longer at the height of his powers, his determination and experience may prove crucial in helping Paris FC fight for survival in the second half of the campaign.
