Bakery Jatta targets quick return to Hamburger SV training

Hamburger SV forward Bakery Jatta could be close to returning after suffering adductor problems, with the club hopeful he may rejoin training this week.

According to Hamburger Morgenpost, the 28-year-old is expected to begin individual work on Tuesday. If he responds well to the increased workload, Jatta could return to full team training on Wednesday, putting him in contention for Saturday’s home Bundesliga fixture against VfB Stuttgart.

Jatta missed HSV’s recent match against Hoffenheim at short notice. He had been expected to fill in on the right side because Zakaria El Ouahdi was also unavailable, but his own discomfort ruled him out.

The winger’s recovery is progressing cautiously, and his availability for the weekend will depend on how he handles training over the next few days. A return to the squad is possible, but no final decision has been made.

Jatta’s potential comeback would ease Hamburg’s options on the flank as they prepare to host Stuttgart. The club will monitor his response to the step-up in physical work before deciding whether he is ready to play.
