Bahlouli’s Algeria move and Mabasa’s Moroccan switch headline African football update

Africa’s transfer market is entering a busy period, with Fares Bahlouli joining newly promoted US Biskra and South Africa international Tshegofatso Mabasa moving to reigning Moroccan champions MAS Fes. The latest Africa-focused football updates also include moves involving young prospects in Spain, Egypt and Switzerland.

Fares Bahlouli has completed a surprise move to US Biskra, who are preparing for life in the Algerian top flight after securing promotion. The club has turned to the attacking midfielder as part of its plans to strengthen the squad during the summer transfer window.

Bahlouli is well known for his career with several prominent French clubs. US Biskra president Fares Ben Aissa spoke publicly about the signing for the first time in an interview with Maghreb-Foot, saying negotiations with the player were straightforward and progressed quickly.

The move gives Bahlouli, who is of French-Algerian nationality, an opportunity to revive his career and rediscover his best form. He will also be expected to bring his technical ability and experience to an ambitious US Biskra side.

In Morocco, MAS Fes have agreed a deal with Tshegofatso Mabasa, according to Micky Jnr. The South African international has signed a two-year contract with the reigning Moroccan champions, with the option of extending the agreement for a further season.

MAS Fes had already shown interest in Mabasa last season, as Africafoot previously reported. At that stage, the 29-year-old chose to remain with Orlando Pirates, hoping to break the club’s all-time goalscoring record, before eventually moving out on loan.

Mabasa has now decided to begin a new chapter in the Moroccan league. His arrival is intended to strengthen the MAS Fes attack as the club targets qualification for the group stage of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.

Elsewhere, Egyptian goalkeeper Hazem Gamal is set to leave Al Ahly and join Pyramids FC during the summer transfer window. The agreement between the clubs has been reported by Maghreb-Foot.

Gamal, 21, came through the Al Ahly academy and is regarded as one of the country’s most promising players in his position. He is also an Egypt Under-20 international.

His departure follows an internal restructuring of Al Ahly’s goalkeeping department. Although the player and Pyramids FC have already reached an agreement, the transfer is still awaiting the final administrative procedures before both clubs can officially announce it.

In Switzerland, 16-year-old Ivorian-born forward Salomon Kourouma has signed his first professional contract with Servette FC. The deal keeps him at the club until 2029, with his agency, Arcane Intl Sports Management, confirming the news on social media.

Kourouma joined the Servette FC academy in 2025 and has continued to make steady progress. Despite concrete interest from several major European clubs, including Bayern Munich and Levante, as exclusively reported by Africafoot, he has chosen to remain in Switzerland to continue his development.

In Spain, Cameroonian central defender Fadil Montap has officially joined CD Eldense B, who play in the fifth division. The 21-year-old completed the move on a free transfer and has signed a contract running until 30 June 2027.

Montap joined AC Torrellano as a free agent at the beginning of 2026 after spending a period without a club. He will therefore remain in Spanish football, where he has played since leaving Cameroon.
