Badreddine Abyir: Moroccan goalkeeper joins Ittihad Tanger on free transfer

Moroccan goalkeeper Badreddine Abyir has joined Ittihad Tanger on a free transfer from Botola Pro Inwi rivals Hassania. The 27-year-old, who was born in Casablanca and stands at 1.94m, moves after his contract with the Agadir club came to an end.

Abyir, a left-footed goalkeeper, has been given a move to one of Morocco’s notable top-flight sides as he enters what is typically considered a goalkeeper’s peak years. His switch keeps him in the Botola Pro Inwi and follows a season in which his market value has risen to €400,000.

The move to Ittihad Tanger is the latest step in a domestic career that has steadily progressed through Moroccan clubs. Abyir first made his name with CR Bernoussi before earning a free transfer to Olympique Dcheira in 2021. After a year there, he again moved without a fee, joining Hassania in August 2022.

At Hassania, Abyir’s performances were sufficient to secure another move within the top division, this time to a side with ambitions of climbing the table. His height and left-footed profile offer Ittihad Tanger a different option in goal as they shape their squad for the new campaign.

Abyir’s contract length in Tangier has not been disclosed, but his arrival completes a permanent free transfer between the two Botola Pro Inwi clubs.
