Bachir Belloumi could target move beyond Hull City, says father Lakhdar

Bachir Belloumi’s impressive start to life at Hull City has already prompted discussion of a possible move to a bigger club, according to his father, Lakhdar Belloumi.

The 22-year-old Algeria international has made an immediate impact in England, scoring two goals and providing two assists. His early performances have established him as an important player in the English Championship.

Lakhdar Belloumi, who is following his son’s progress closely, believes Bachir’s development reflects the ambition he showed when he chose to continue his career in Europe.

The winger began his career in Algeria with GC Mascara before moving to MC Oran, where he faced considerable criticism. In 2022, he opted to take the next step abroad by joining Portuguese club SC Farense.

His father supported that decision, encouraging him to pursue his own ambitions and ignore outside opinions by remaining focused on his work. Lakhdar Belloumi did not have the chance to play in Europe during his own career and has therefore taken particular satisfaction from his son achieving that goal.

Ambitions beyond Hull City

In an interview with Winwin, Lakhdar Belloumi said his son regularly reminds him that he has fulfilled his wish of playing professional football abroad at the highest level.

Although Bachir Belloumi is currently concentrating on his performances for Hull City, he is also aiming for further progress in his career. His father said an opportunity to join a club competing for major honours would not be turned down.

Belloumi is valued at 6 million euros and remains under contract with the Tigers until 2029. His annual salary in England is 426 190 euros, equivalent to 277 023 500 FCFA.

The attacker’s progress comes as Algeria prepare to begin their qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. Algeria will play Zambia in their opening qualifying match.

Belloumi’s move to Europe followed a period in which he had to overcome criticism in Algeria, but his performances for Hull City have quickly changed the perception of his prospects. His two goals and two assists have given him a prominent role at the club and strengthened the belief within his family that he can continue to advance.

For now, his immediate focus remains Hull City and maintaining the standards that have marked his start in the English Championship. However, his father’s comments indicate that a future move to a club pursuing major titles is already being considered if the right opportunity arises.
