TOGO’S BABA TCHAGOUNI IN ADVANCED TALKS WITH SUDAN’S HILAL ONDURMAN
After nearly two years without a club, Togolese international goalkeeper Baba Tchagouni may finally be set for a return to competitive football. The former Dijon (France Ligue 2) shot-stopper is in advanced negotiations with Hilal Ondurman, the newly crowned champions of Sudan.
Fresh off clinching their 28th national title following a tense draw against arch-rivals Al Merreikh on October 30, Hilal are aiming to bolster their squad with experienced foreign talent for the upcoming season—and Tchagouni is reportedly high on their list.
🧤 Why Tchagouni?
At 24 (as of 2014), Tchagouni brings both international experience with the Togolese national team and a solid pedigree from European football. Despite his inactivity at club level since leaving Dijon, his talent and maturity remain intact, and Hilal see him as a potential luxury reinforcement between the posts.
However, the Sudanese giants are keeping their options open: Ghanaian goalkeeper Stephen Adams is also being considered for the role.
⚽ Recent Moves by Hilal:
Already signed Ethiopian striker Abebaw Butako this week.
Looking to strengthen their roster with a mix of seasoned African talents ahead of continental competitions.
If the deal goes through, it could mark a much-needed career revival for Baba Tchagouni and inject vital experience into Hilal’s continental ambitions.
