AZPILICUETA WELCOMES COMPETITION AFTER CHELSEA SIGN BABA RAHMAN
Chelsea defender César Azpilicueta says he is unfazed by the club’s acquisition of Ghanaian full-back Baba Rahman, who joined the Premier League champions from German side Augsburg.
Despite the added competition for his place at left-back, the Spanish international remains confident and views the arrival of the 21-year-old as a positive step for the team.
“I’m confident. I know competition is good for the team,” Azpilicueta told the Daily Express. “There are a lot of great players around me and also young players. They will all compete for a place. In the end, I hope the whole team will be better and I will improve.”
Azpilicueta, a former Marseille player, has been a consistent performer under manager José Mourinho. But with Rahman’s arrival, the competition for starting spots in Chelsea’s back line is expected to intensify—something Azpilicueta clearly embraces.
