CR Belouizdad assistant coach Azzedine Rahim has stepped down, intensifying the turmoil within the Algerian Ligue 1 club.
The resignation came after Rahim arrived at the training ground on Tuesday to discover he had been demoted to second assistant without prior notice. In a surprising move, the club’s general coordinator, Samir Houhou, was promoted to first assistant by head coach Abdelkader Amrani.
The decision blindsided Rahim, who had already been at odds with Amrani over forward Islam Slimani’s situation. Rahim asserted that Slimani was injured, but Amrani publicly dismissed this claim, attributing the player’s absence to administrative issues. The lack of communication, coupled with Houhou’s promotion, pushed Rahim to relinquish his role.
The drama doesn’t stop there. During the same session, Amrani clashed with striker Ishak Boussouf, who arrived out of uniform, citing an injury. The confrontation escalated, prompting Boussouf to storm off, vowing never to return. Rumors now suggest he’s eyeing a transfer to Mouloudia of Algiers this winter.
As CRB grapples with underwhelming performances and mounting internal strife, decisive action is needed to stabilize the faltering club.
