Morocco international Azzedine Ounahi appears increasingly likely to leave Girona during the summer transfer window, with interest growing from clubs in England and the Netherlands.

The midfielder has missed Girona’s recent match against Leganes and is also expected to be absent for Friday’s meeting with Cordoba in the second round of the Spanish second division.

His continued absence has fuelled speculation that the Moroccan will not remain with Girona for the new season.

European clubs monitoring Ounahi

Ounahi has attracted interest from several European clubs as his situation at Girona develops.

English sides Hull City and Ipswich Town are reportedly among those considering a move for the Morocco international, while Dutch giants Ajax have also emerged as potential suitors.

The growing interest could give Ounahi several options as he looks to determine his next destination before the transfer window closes.

Saudi offer fails to convince Moroccan

Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad have also made an attractive proposal for Ounahi.

However, the Morocco international does not reportedly consider a move to the Gulf league the right option for his career at this stage.

His preference appears to be remaining in European football, leaving the door open for one of the interested clubs in England or the Netherlands to secure his signature.

Girona future uncertain

Ounahi’s absence from Girona’s opening matches of the campaign has added further uncertainty surrounding his future.

With Hull City, Ipswich Town and Ajax reportedly monitoring his situation, the Moroccan midfielder could be approaching the final stages of his time at the Spanish club.

The coming days are expected to provide greater clarity on where the Morocco international will continue his career.
