Basingstoke have added English-Gambian defender Ayyuba Jambang to their squad, signing the 21-year-old right-back on a free transfer from Wingate FC. The move sees Jambang join the club ahead of the new campaign after a short spell with the non-league side.

Jambang, who stands at 1.86m and favours his right foot, arrives with experience across youth and senior football. He previously came through academy set-ups at Norwich City and Reading, before moving into Ipswich Towns under-21 ranks, where he featured in the Under-18 Premier League and Premier League Cup.

Loan spells at Aveley and Chatham followed during his time with Ipswich, giving him senior exposure in the National League South. He has already made appearances in that division, clocking up minutes in league action and the play-off picture before moving on.

After leaving Ipswichs under-21 side, Jambang spent a short period without a club before signing for Wingate FC in September 2025. Less than a year later he has now earned a move to Basingstoke, where he will continue his career as a specialist right-back option.

The English-born defender, who is also eligible to represent The Gambia, joins Basingstoke as a permanent signing following the completion of his free transfer from Wingate FC on 9 July 2026.
