Tunisian defender Aymen Abdennour will return to Valencia this summer after a challenging two-year loan spell at Olympique de Marseille.
Marseille, coming off a disappointing 2018-19 season that saw them miss out on European competition, faces a difficult summer. The club must raise significant funds to stabilize its finances, and part of that process will involve offloading several players, including Abdennour.
The Tunisian’s time at Marseille under Rudi Garcia proved frustrating. He saw very little playing time over a season and a half, featuring only in a handful of friendly matches and largely disappearing from the first-team setup. With his loan ending, Abdennour is set to return to Valencia, where he faces the delicate task of re-establishing himself and regaining the confidence of the club’s management, coaching staff, and supporters.
