Ayman El-Ramadi’s first test in charge of Zamalek ended in dramatic fashion as his side drew 2-2 with Ceramica Cleopatra in a lively clash at the Arab Contractors Stadium on Friday.
Zamalek started strong, capitalising on a mistake by goalkeeper Mohamed Bassam in the 14th minute. Nasser Mansi pounced to slot home the opener, giving the Cairo giants an early lead. The team showed early intent, pushing forward with quick counters and probing balls from Abdullah El Said.
Despite missing chances and surviving a Ceramica penalty appeal, Zamalek carried their lead into the break. Islam Issa levelled for Ceramica in the 64th minute, but Zamalek responded just six minutes later. Seifeddine Jaziri made it 2-1 with a clever finish following a long ball behind the defence.
El-Ramadi’s men looked set for victory until a late twist in stoppage time. Ahmed Belhaj headed in a 94th-minute equaliser, denying Zamalek all three points.
The result leaves Zamalek third with 41 points, while Ceramica sit sixth with 31.
