Jordan Ayew says passion is the heartbeat of his family’s deep connection to Ghana football, especially with the senior national team, the Black Stars.
The Leicester City striker, who’s in line to captain Ghana against Chad and Madagascar, opened up about what drives the Ayew clan to keep shining on the pitch. Football isn’t just a game for them—it’s a legacy, with Jordan following in the footsteps of his father, Abedi Pele, and his brother, Andre Ayew, both former Black Stars captains.
“It’s just something that was written in the stars,” he told BBC Sport Africa. “We’re just a passionate family. We just want to do our best [and] let the people enjoy our game.”
That passion has carried the Ayews through generations, cementing their status as icons of the four-time African champions.
Ghana wrapped up preparations today for their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad. The match kicks off tomorrow, Friday, March 21st, at 19:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium, where the Black Stars hope to thrill their fans once again.
