Burnley held Tottenham Hotspur to a 2-2 draw in the Premier League as goals from Axel Tuanzebe and Lyle Foster earned the Clarets a hard-fought point in their battle for survival.

The sides met on Saturday in the 23rd round of league fixtures, with Burnley responding twice to setbacks to deny Tottenham a much-needed victory.

The result prevented Spurs from suffering a fourth defeat in five matches, while Burnley extended their recent run of draws.

Tottenham struck first midway through the opening half when Van de Ven found the net in the 38th minute, putting the visitors ahead and briefly silencing the home crowd. Burnley, however, responded with resilience and intensity, pushing forward in search of an equaliser before the interval.

Their persistence was rewarded in stoppage time of the first half. Axel Tuanzebe, starting in midfield, brought Burnley level with a goal in the 45th+1 minute, ensuring the teams went into the break on equal terms and restoring belief among the hosts.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Tottenham seeing more of the ball but Burnley remaining dangerous on the counter. As the match progressed, the Clarets grew in confidence and eventually turned the game around in the closing stages.

In the 76th minute, South African striker Lyle Foster struck to put Burnley ahead, giving the home side a lead that appeared to put them on course for a vital victory. Burnley defended deep as Tottenham pushed forward in search of a response, applying late pressure in the final minutes.

That pressure eventually told. Cristian Romero equalised in the 90th minute, rescuing a point for Tottenham and denying Burnley what would have been a significant win in their fight to avoid relegation.

The draw leaves Burnley still in the relegation zone, sitting 19th in the Premier League table with 15 points from 23 matches. It was their second consecutive draw, offering encouragement but little immediate relief in the standings.

Tottenham, meanwhile, remain 13th with 28 points. While the late equaliser avoided another defeat, the result did little to ease concerns about consistency as the season enters a crucial phase.

For Burnley, the performance showed resolve and attacking promise, but the late concession underlined the fine margins they must overcome if they are to climb out of danger.
