Axel Disasi stays at Chelsea after Monaco return collapses

Axel Disasi’s hopes of a return to Monaco ended in disappointment as a planned season-long loan fell apart in the closing days of the transfer window.

The French defender had agreed personal terms with his former club, but the deal broke down after Chelsea filled their Premier League loan quota.

Reports from Foot Mercato revealed that Chelsea and Monaco had already reached an agreement, with the move set to take place without an option to buy. For Disasi, who had been open to reuniting with the Ligue 1 side, it was a frustrating twist that left him rooted in London instead of heading back to familiar surroundings in France.

The 27-year-old, once a commanding figure at Monaco, had drawn attention from several clubs during the summer but none of those discussions led to a transfer. For now, he must focus on competing for a place in Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Although the windows in Turkey and the Middle East remain open, there are no current indications of fresh offers for the French centre-back.
