Axel Disasi: Chelsea’s France defender linked with Roma move amid Serie A interest

Axel Disasi, the France international centre-back currently at Chelsea, is being linked with a move to Serie A side Roma as the Italian club explores options to strengthen its defence. Initial discussions are understood to be at an exploratory stage, with Roma monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation at Stamford Bridge.

Disasi returned to Chelsea this summer after a loan spell at West Ham United in the second half of last season, a campaign in which West Ham were relegated from the Premier League. He is under contract at Chelsea until 30 June 2029, a long-term deal that means any departure would likely require a significant fee or a structured loan arrangement.

Chelsea paid €45 million to sign Disasi from Monaco in August 2023, and his current market value is listed at €15 million following successive loan moves to Aston Villa in 2024-25 and West Ham in 2025-26. Roma are thought to view that valuation as more accessible than the figures previously associated with him when he first arrived in England.

The defender has made close to 60 Premier League appearances and brings extensive top-flight experience from his time in both England and France, along with outings in European competition. He was also part of the France squad that finished as runners-up at the 2022 World Cup, adding a major international pedigree to his profile.

Roma’s interest comes as Chelsea continue to reshape a squad that has seen regular defensive turnover in recent windows. For now, Disasi remains a Chelsea player preparing for the new season under a contract that runs for another three years.
