Basile Boli Returns to Auxerre to Lead International Development of Club’s Youth Training
Former Marseille defender Basile Boli is making a heartfelt return to his roots this Saturday, announcing that he will rejoin Auxerre — the club where he was trained as a youth.
In an exclusive interview with L’Yonne Républicaine, Boli, 47, revealed that he will be involved in the international development of Auxerre’s youth academy.
“I want to give back a little of what was given to me,” Boli said. “I come from the ‘Pyramid’ — the old training center — and I have always kept an eye on AJA. Right now, I’m in London meeting with representatives of several major English clubs.”
His mission is clear: to reconnect Auxerre with clubs that have historically benefited from its talented graduates, and to forge partnerships aimed at rebuilding and expanding training centers across Europe, China, and Qatar.
Boli’s return marks a significant step for Auxerre as the club seeks to strengthen its reputation as a cradle of football talent, while broadening its influence on the global stage.
