Austria international of Nigerian descent David Alaba is expected to depart Real Madrid at the end of the current campaign, bringing an end to his spell in Spain.
Alaba, whose contract expires at the end of the season has yet to sign a new deal with the club. Real Madrid have shown no intention of continuing their partnership with Alaba, while the Austrian-Nigerian star is said to be unhappy with his limited game time under Xabi Alonso.
With his contract expiring in summer 2026, the former Bayern Munich will end his spell with the Spanish giants for a new challenge.
David Alaba joined Real Madrid in 2021 from Bayern Munich as a free agent. He has made 120 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring 5 goals and providing 9 assists.
Alaba joined Real Madrid in summer 2021 and established himself as a key member of the team until recent injury setbacks.
During his time at Real Madrid, Alaba has won the Champions League and La Liga twice each. The defender has also lifted the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Despite his Nigerian root, the versatile defender opted to represent the Austrian national team at the international level.
