Austria Wien eyeing Schalke forward Christian Gomis
Christian Gomis could be heading for a change of scenery this summer, with Austria Wien among the clubs keen on signing the Schalke 04 striker on loan.
The 25-year-old’s future in Gelsenkirchen remains unresolved, and Schalke have yet to make a final decision on whether to keep him in the squad or approve a temporary move.
According to RTL, Austria Wien and other interested teams are already exploring the possibility of a loan deal for the powerful attacker. A move abroad could offer Gomis the regular minutes he has struggled to find in Germany and help him take the next step in his development.
Last season, Gomis was mostly used as an impact substitute for the newly promoted Bundesliga side. He made 19 competitive appearances across all competitions, starting eight times and registering one goal and one assist. Despite relatively modest numbers, his athletic profile and contract situation – he is tied to Schalke until 2029 – make him an intriguing option for suitors looking for a long-term project with immediate squad depth.
From Schalke’s perspective, a loan could be a sensible compromise that maintains control over his future while giving the player a better platform to showcase his potential.
