Austria Vienna have not initiated any formal negotiations with Kelvin Boateng, despite growing speculation linking the Ghanaian forward with a potential move to the Austrian Bundesliga side.
Boateng, who is set to become a free agent at the end of June when his current contract with First Vienna FC expires, has made it clear he does not intend to renew his deal with the second-tier club.
The 25-year-old has attracted attention following two productive seasons in the Austrian 2. Liga and is now seeking a move to a club with higher ambitions.
While Austria Vienna’s interest in the player is well known, no official approach has been made. A representative from HAGMAYR Sports Management, the agency handling Boateng’s affairs, confirmed the situation in an interview with Africafoot, stating that the forward’s future remains open.
“As it stands, he’s not renewing with First Vienna unless something unexpected happens,” the source revealed. “Austria Vienna have been monitoring him for some time, and it’s no secret.
However, they haven’t made any contact with us yet. It’s a move he would accept without hesitation, but I can confirm there have been no talks or official contact so far.”
Boateng’s performances over the past two seasons have not gone unnoticed. This campaign, he has scored 12 goals and registered two assists in just 20 appearances for First Vienna, despite battling recurring injuries. His contribution was equally valuable last season, when he recorded 10 goals and two assists in 26 games.
With a current market valuation of €500,000 according to Transfermarkt, Boateng represents a potentially valuable addition for any top-flight side seeking attacking reinforcements without incurring a transfer fee.
Having previously featured for FC Porto B in Portugal, Spartak Trnava in Slovakia, and MFK Karviná in the Czech Republic, Boateng has built a reputation as a dynamic forward capable of adapting across multiple European leagues.
His time in Austria has only reinforced that profile, with consistent goal-scoring form in the second division drawing attention from clubs at a higher level.
While Austria Vienna remains a potential destination, the lack of formal dialogue suggests any move is far from imminent.
The club, which holds a prominent position in Austrian football, would represent a significant step up for Boateng, aligning with his desire to compete at a more competitive level.
For now, however, his future remains undecided. With his contract set to expire on 30 June, Boateng is expected to weigh multiple options during the summer window. His representatives remain open to discussions, but no definitive plans have been made.
As interest grows and the transfer window approaches, the coming weeks could prove decisive for the Ghanaian striker. Until then, speculation continues, but no concrete progress has been made between Boateng’s camp and Austria Vienna.
