Austria Vienna eye move for Nigeria defender Ibrahim Buhari from Elfsborg

Austria Vienna are considering a move for Nigerian centre-back Ibrahim Buhari, who currently plays for Swedish side Elfsborg in the Allsvenskan.

The 24-year-old defender, valued at 1.4m, has emerged as a potential reinforcement for the Austrian Bundesliga club as they look to strengthen the heart of their back line.

Buhari, a 1.90m right-footed centre-back, joined Elfsborg from Nigerian club Plateau United in September 2022 and has since seen his market value rise significantly during his time in Sweden.

His valuation climbed rapidly from 150,000 at the end of 2022 to a peak of 1.8m in December 2023, before settling at 1.4m in June 2026, underlining his development and growing reputation in European football.

A move to Austria Vienna would mark Buharis first switch within European leagues, following his progression from domestic Nigerian football to the Allsvenskan with Elfsborg.

Discussions between the clubs have not been detailed, and the transfer remains at rumour stage, with Buhari still on the books at Elfsborg.
