Austrian police have questioned twenty football players, both active and retired, as part of an investigation into suspicions of match-fixing in Austrian championships. The investigation covers the period from 2004 to 2013, with suspicions of manipulation in 17 to 19 football matches. Players from various clubs, ranging from regional to first division, were interviewed. The case was initiated when former Grödig player Dominique Taboga filed a complaint, alleging he was a victim of blackmail by the sports betting mafia. The Austrian Federal Criminal Police is leading the investigation, which includes searches in four Austrian states.
