Aurelien Tchouameni believes Real Madrid’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Benfica in the Champions League play-offs first leg is proof the team have rediscovered their top level, but insists they must sustain this standard for the rest of the campaign.
The French midfielder praised both the result and the collective effort in what he described as one of the most demanding atmospheres in Europe.
“It’s very difficult to play here with this crowd and this team,” Tchouameni admitted, highlighting how intense the opening stages were. “We knew the first 15 minutes would be really tough, but in the end, little by little, we played a good match and were very united. That’s the most important thing, and we must continue like this throughout the season. If we keep playing this way, as a team, winning duels and scoring goals, we can win many matches.”
He also underlined the vital role of the attacking line in setting the tone from the front.
“The pressure starts with Vini Jr., Kylian, and our forwards. They are an example for us, and when we play as a team, we can do a lot of good things with the quality they have. In recent weeks, we’ve returned to our level and will win many matches.”
