Aurélien Tchouaméni handed €500,000 fine after clash with Valverde
Franco-Cameroonian star Aurélien Tchouaméni has been slapped with a €500,000 fine by Real Madrid following recent altercation with teammate Federico Valverde.
The incident, which reportedly took place inside the Real Madrid locker room, sparked intense attention around the club ahead of this weekend’s crucial El Clásico showdown against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou.
However, the Spanish giants has taken a disciplinary measures against both players following the confrontation. Although the situation generated concern within the squad, the matter now appears to have been resolved internally after both midfielders met to apologise to each other and to the club hierarchy.
Despite avoiding harsher sporting sanctions, both Tchouaméni and Valverde were reportedly hit with financial penalties of €500,000 each. The duo are said to have accepted responsibility for their actions immediately and did not contest the punishment imposed by the club.
The development effectively closes a controversy that threatened to overshadow Real Madrid’s preparations for one of the biggest matches of the season. Club officials are believed to have prioritised restoring harmony within the dressing room quickly, especially with tensions high heading into the decisive clash against Barcelona.
Tchouaméni’s involvement in the incident has drawn particular attention given his growing importance within Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield setup. The French international has become a central figure in Real Madrid’s engine room thanks to his physical presence, tactical discipline and ability to control tempo in big matches.
Valverde, meanwhile, remains one of the team’s most influential and energetic performers, meaning any friction between the pair had the potential to disrupt squad unity at a critical stage of the campaign.
However, the swift reconciliation between both players has reportedly been welcomed positively inside the club and among supporters, many of whom view the resolution as a sign of maturity and professionalism ahead of El Clásico.
Real Madrid fans will now hope the controversy is fully behind the squad as attention shifts back to the title race and Sunday’s high-stakes encounter at Camp Nou, where both Tchouaméni and Valverde are expected to play key roles.
