Aurelien Tchouameni expected to face Espanyol
Aurélien Tchouameni is reportedly on course to feature in Real Madrid’s LaLiga opener against Espanyol next week.
The French midfielder is currently managing minor physical discomfort, but his recovery is progressing well and the issue is not expected to prevent him from appearing in the first league match.
Tchouameni may be rested for Madrid’s friendly against Schalke this weekend as the club takes a cautious approach to his fitness. However, the expectation is that he will be fully available when José Mourinho’s side begins its league campaign at the RCDE Stadium.
The 26-year-old remains an important option in Madrid’s midfield, where his strength, positioning and ability to protect the defence give the team valuable balance. He can also operate at centre-back when required, making him useful in several tactical situations.
His anticipated return would be welcome news for Mourinho, who is preparing his squad for a demanding opening fixture. Keeping Tchouaméni fit could help Madrid control the midfield and cope with Espanyol’s energy during the early stages of the season.
For now, the club is expected to continue monitoring the player before deciding whether he should take part in the Schalke friendly. With the Espanyol match approaching, Madrid appear confident that Tchouameni’s problem will not become a major concern.
