Aurélien Tchouaméni ruled out of Real Betis clash

Aurélien Tchouaméni has issued a public apology following a training ground confrontation with teammate Federico Valverde that resulted in the Uruguayan midfielder sustaining a head injury, an incident that has since drawn disciplinary action and internal scrutiny at Real Madrid.

The altercation is understood to have started during a routine training session when Valverde allegedly declined to shake hands with the French international.

What began as a brief exchange reportedly escalated on the pitch and later continued into the dressing room, culminating in a physical clash that left Valverde requiring medical attention.

In a statement addressing the episode, Tchouameni acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and emphasised the need for responsibility within the squad.

“What happened in training this week is unacceptable – I say this in light of the example we are supposed to set for young people, whether in football or at school.

“Regardless of who is right or wrong, we should always seek the most level-headed solution to resolve a conflict,” Tchouameni wrote in his post.

Real Madrid confirmed that Valverde is recovering at home after suffering a head injury, with medical staff recommending a rest period of 10 to 14 days.

The setback rules him out of the upcoming El Clasico, a major blow to the club’s preparations.

Following internal review, the Spanish giants imposed a fine of €500,000 on each player, while also confirming that the disciplinary matter has now been officially closed.

The incident has prompted renewed focus on squad discipline at the club, even as both players are expected to reintegrate into training once Valverde completes his recovery period.
