Togolese international full-back Atte Youssifou has officially joined ASEC Mimosas in Ivory Coast, following much speculation and interest from various clubs across Africa. Youssifou, who was a free agent after leaving TP Mazembe, was a coveted player, with clubs such as Asante Kotoko in Ghana and APR FC in Rwanda also vying for his signature. However, the 28-year-old defender ultimately chose ASEC Mimosas to continue his career.

In an interview with 228Foot, Youssifou shed light on his decision-making process and the factors that led him to choose ASEC Mimosas. “I chose ASEC because I already knew their infrastructure.

ASEC is an academy and a first division team. As I spent several years at Wafa (Ghana, editor’s note), I quickly found myself in the model,” he explained.

The defender emphasized his familiarity with the club’s setup and his confidence in fitting into their system seamlessly.

Youssifou also highlighted the crucial role played by ASEC Mimosas’ coach, Julien Chevalier, in influencing his decision.

“Before making my decision, I had the chance to talk with the coach Julien Chevalier who told me a lot about their project, his vision, and I know that through my seriousness and my rigor I can bring a lot,” Youssifou added.

This endorsement from the coach reassured him of his potential contribution to the team and the alignment of their ambitions.

At 28, Youssifou brings a wealth of experience and professionalism to ASEC Mimosas. The Ivorian club, renowned for its rich history and success, is keen on reclaiming the Ligue 1 title they lost last season.

Additionally, they have set their sights on making a deep run in the CAF Cup. Youssifou’s signing is seen as a strategic move to bolster the squad and enhance their chances of achieving these goals.

Youssifou’s tenure at TP Mazembe and his stint with Wafa in Ghana have equipped him with valuable insights and skills that he is eager to showcase at ASEC Mimosas.

His commitment to hard work and discipline is expected to be a significant asset to the club as they navigate the challenges of the upcoming season.

The decision to join ASEC Mimosas reflects Youssifou’s strategic career planning and his desire to be part of a club with a clear vision and strong infrastructure.

As ASEC Mimosas prepares for the 2024/25 season, the inclusion of Youssifou is anticipated to strengthen their defensive lineup and contribute to their overall success.

In conclusion, Atte Youssifou’s move to ASEC Mimosas marks a significant step in his career, aligning him with a club that values his experience and shares his professional ethos.

Both the player and the club are poised for a mutually beneficial partnership, with high expectations for the upcoming season.
