Al Ahly Club: Al Ahly, also known as Al Ahly Cairo, is an Egyptian multi-sports club founded in April 1907 in Cairo. With its football section being the most renowned, Al Ahly is the most popular club in Egypt. The club boasts an impressive record with 36 Egyptian championships and eight Champions League victories between 1948 and 2013, making it the most successful football club in Africa. Recognized as the “African club of the 20th century” in 2000 by the Confederation of African Football, Al Ahly secured its eighth African Champions League title this season, surpassing Orlando Pirates.
TP Mazembe: Le Tout Puissant Mazembe, commonly known as Mazembe, is a Congolese football club based in Lubumbashi, established in 1939. Regarded as the largest sub-Saharan club, Mazembe boasts significant infrastructure, including its own stadium and plane. The Ravens have clinched 13 Congolese championship titles and four CAF Champions League victories (in 1967, 1968, 2009, and 2010). Although falling short in this season’s Confederation Cup final, Mazembe remains a powerhouse in African football. The club’s president, Moïse Katumbi, also serves as the Governor of the Katanga Province.
