Atletico Madrid set new attendance record in derby win over Real Madrid

Atletico Madrid recorded their highest-ever attendance at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano as they beat local rivals Real Madrid 2-1 in La Liga.

The club said 70,514 supporters were inside the stadium for the derby, just 299 short of its full capacity of 70,813 seats.

The record crowd saw Atletico claim victory over Real Madrid and move above their rivals in the La Liga table after seven rounds of the competition.

Atletico thanked their supporters for the backing they provided during the match.

“With this new achievement, our supporters have once again shown that they are unique,” the club said in a statement on its official website. “Thank you, Atletico fans, for your continued support and encouragement.”
