Kenya is set to establish its first anti-doping control laboratory, likely in January, according to Isaiah Kiplagat, the president of the Kenyan athletics federation. Delegations from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) are expected to visit Kenya next week to assist in the creation of the laboratory. The facility will be located in Nairobi, enabling all analyses and the storage of blood and urine samples to be conducted in the capital. Kenya has faced controversy and scrutiny over the circulation of prohibited substances, including EPO, within the country. Testing since January 2012 has resulted in the suspension of seventeen athletes, but no prominent figures in Kenyan athletics have been implicated.
