Athletic Bilbao coach banks hopes on Inaki Williams

Athletic Bilbao manager Edin Terzic has expressed confidence in Ghana international Inaki Williams ahead of the new season, highlighting the forward’s versatility and importance to the team.

Williams, who is set to captain the Spanish outfit for the second consecutive season, was on target at the weekend as Athletic secured a 3-0 pre-season friendly victory over lower-tier side Burgos.

After the match, the former Borussia Dortmund manager singled out the Ghana international as a key figure in his plans for the upcoming campaign.

“We played an excellent match. We hope Inaki can help the team in different positions,” Terzic said.

Williams, who has been a consistent performer for both Athletic Bilbao and the Ghana national team, remains one of the club’s most influential players.

Known for his pace, work rate and ability to operate across the attacking line, the 32-year-old is expected to play a crucial role as Athletic prepare for a demanding season on multiple fronts.

The Black Stars attacker has established himself as a fan favourite at San Mames following years of dedicated service to the club.

His experience and leadership are also expected to be valuable assets as Athletic look to compete strongly across all competitions next season.

Williams struggled last season following injury setbacks and will be hoping to rediscover his best form in the upcoming campaign.
