Atalanta linked with Werder Bremen winger Samuel Mbangula in Serie A move

Samuel Mbangula, the Belgian and DR Congo winger at Werder Bremen, has been linked with a move to Italian club Atalanta. The 22-year-old left winger is the subject of reported transfer interest from the Serie A side, with the possibility of a move assessed at 50%.

Mbangula joined Werder Bremen from Juventus on 23 July 2025 in a deal worth €10m. He remains under contract with the Bundesliga club until 30 June 2030, meaning any potential transfer would involve negotiations rather than a free move.

The Brussels-born player has made one appearance for Bremen this season, starting in the DFB-Pokal and playing 45 minutes without scoring. He has not yet featured in the Bundesliga during the current campaign.

Mbangula developed at Juventus after moving from Anderlecht’s academy in 2020 and progressed through the Italian club’s youth teams before stepping up to the senior set-up. His move to Bremen last summer marked a significant change of club, and Atalanta’s reported interest would represent another possible switch between two of Europe’s major leagues.

The winger’s current market value is listed at €8m, below the €14m figure recorded when he joined Werder Bremen. He is currently registered as a Bremen player and retains a long-term contract with the Bundesliga side.
