Atalanta and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement over the transfer of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, with the move now waiting on the player’s final approval.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the clubs have a deal in place, but a full agreement on personal terms between Lookman and Atletico has not yet been finalised. The 28-year-old is still weighing up the switch to La Liga as he considers the next step in his career.
Lookman was previously on the verge of joining Fenerbahçe after agreeing terms with the Turkish giants, only for negotiations to collapse late in the process. That proposed deal would reportedly have earned him around 10 million euros per season, including bonuses, highlighting his growing market value after standout performances with Atalanta.
Atletico’s push for Lookman underlines their desire to add pace, goals and versatility to Diego Simeone’s front line heading into the second half of the season.
If the player gives the green light, he would join a strong attacking unit in Madrid and swap Serie A for La Liga after successful spells in Italy, Germany and England.
