Aston Villa v Fenerbahce: Nicolas Jackson set for key Champions League role

Aston Villa host Fenerbahce at Villa Park on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, in the second matchday of the UEFA Champions League league phase, with Nicolas Jackson expected to lead the home side’s attack.

The Senegal forward is among several African players who could draw attention in the fixture. Aston Villa’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also expected to feature, while Fenerbahce’s Nene Dorgeles is another player to watch.

Unai Emery is expected to select Zion Suzuki in goal. Aaron Wan-Bissaka could start at right-back, with Victor Lindelof, Tyrone Mings and Matteo Ruggeri completing the defence.

Boubacar Kamara and Joao Gomes are tipped to form the midfield partnership. John McGinn, Emiliano Buendia and Johan Manzambi are likely to operate behind Jackson, who will be relied upon to provide the main attacking threat.

Young Senegal international Ibrahim Mbaye is also part of the Aston Villa squad but is expected to begin on the bench.

Fenerbahce could include Mali international Nene Dorgeles among their attacking options, although he is not listed in the predicted starting XI. Amara Diouf, meanwhile, is considered unlikely to take part in the match.

The confirmed line-ups will be announced only when the official team sheets are released. Until then, the managers’ selections remain subject to late tactical decisions and the players’ physical condition.

Probable Aston Villa team: Suzuki, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Mings, Ruggeri, Kamara, Joao Gomes, McGinn, Buendia, Manzambi, Jackson.

Probable Fenerbahce team: Ederson, Semedo, Skriniar, Ake, Brown, Kante, Guendouzi, Kahveci, Greenwood, Akturkoglu, Muriqi.
