Christian Benteke Sparks Premier League Transfer Interest
Christian Benteke is once again turning heads. Since Tim Sherwood took charge at Aston Villa, the Belgian international of Congolese descent has rediscovered his goal-scoring form — netting nine goals in eight games. His resurgence has caught the attention of top Premier League clubs, notably Manchester United and Liverpool.
According to Goal, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his underperforming attack — with just eight league goals scored collectively by his four strikers this season — and sees Benteke as a prime target.
However, Aston Villa have placed a €40 million price tag on their star forward, signaling their reluctance to part ways easily. Benteke’s agent Eric Kismet downplayed the transfer talk:
“At the moment, there is no interest. All the players and staff are focused on avoiding relegation, everything else is just a distraction.”
With the summer transfer window approaching and Benteke in red-hot form, speculation is unlikely to die down soon.
